From Richard:
Judy May and I dated at Roosevelt and in college. I went to Pacific Lutheran and she went to the UW. After college, I went to the UW Med School and we got maried after the first year. After internship at the Univ of North Caroline we went to NYC where I did residency and fellowship at Columbia University. Then there was the US Army and two years in San Antonio where I ended up teaching at Brook General Hospital and the Univ. of Texas. We lived Boston for two years after that where I taught gastroenterology and did biophysics research at Harvard Medical School. We moved back to Tacoma in 1973 and I practiced until last year. Currently I do a lot of local and national volunteer work and have done volunteer consultation and teaching in northern Vietnam where I will return again this year.
Judy worked as an RN at Children's when I was in med school and went back to nursing when the three kids were out of house. She retired several years ago and is unbelievably active as a volunteer in many organizations in Tacoma.
We have eight grandchildren and all of them live within a few miles of our house, giving us a chance to get to know them a little bit better than a lot of folks.
